PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Japanese processor which can be easily mounted to portable equipment wherein it is made easy to use prediction display for a character input so as to make it easy to input a text, and a Japanese processing method. PSOLUTION: This Japanese processor is provided with: an input device 1 for inputting a character string; an output device for displaying a character string; an association prediction dictionary 61 in which a clause and the co-occurrence information of a clause co-occurring with the clause are recorded at its use frequency; a clause division part 41 for dividing one sentence of the input text as a unit into clauses configuring a sentence; a prediction information reflecting part 42 for updating the association prediction dictionary 61 based on the divided clauses; an association prediction engine 62 for outputting the occurrence information corresponding to the clauses by referring to the prediction dictionary 61 based on the clauses inputted from the input device 1; and a control part 3 for controlling the display of the character string inputted from the input device 1 at the output device 2, and for controlling the display of the cooccurrence information outputted from the linkage prediction engine 62 for input auxiliary.
