METHOD FOR CONTROLLING MOISTURE EVAPORATION OF LEAF AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING DROUGHT RESISTANCE OF PLANT

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling moisture evaporation of a leaf and to provide a method for improving drought resistance of a plant and a method for a screening substance for improving drought resistance of a plant. PSOLUTION: The method for controlling moisture evaporation of the leaf by suppressing expression or activity of a sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase in plant cells, especially to the method for suppressing moisture evaporation of the leaf by suppressing the expression or activity of the sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase in the plant cells. The methods are applied for prolongation of service life of plants for appreciation or creation of a plant durable in dry environment (drought stress), because the method enhances drought resistance by suppressing moisture evaporation through stomata by suppressing expression or activity of the sphingosine-1-phosphate lyase.
