OPTICAL DROP CABLE WITH ANTI-LOCUST MEASURES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure safe and sure optical communication by preventing piercing by the ovipositor of a locust.;SOLUTION: In an optical drop cable 10, a tension member 12 is arranged with a space apart on both sides of a coated optical fiber 11, wherein a direct protective coating 15 is provided on the circumference of the tension members 12. At least on the surface of the protective coating 15, there is formed a layer of a low friction/high strength resin composition. In detail, this composition has a coefficient of dynamic friction ≤0.3 and a hardness ≥85 (HDA), with the material employed among polyurethane, polyamide, polyimide, and HDPE. If necessary, a gap of ≥0.2 mm can be provided between the coated optical fiber and the protective coating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
