PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water vapor adsorbent for an adsorption type heat pump, from which water vapor can be desorbed at low temperature, in which a large amount of water vapor can be adsorbed and from which a large amount of water vapor can be desorbed and to provide an efficient adsorption type heat pump apparatus using the adsorbent.;SOLUTION: The water vapor adsorbent for the adsorption type heat pump contains a temperature-sensitive polymer gel. The polymers of the temperature-sensitive polymer gel are cross-linked by a lamellar clay mineral. The temperature-sensitive polymer gel becomes hydrophilic or hydrophobic reversibly at a phase transition point. For example, the adsorbed amount of water vapor on the temperature-sensitive polymer gel obtained by cross-linking poly N-isopropylacrylamide by smectite is 0.08 g/g when the relative vapor pressure is 0.3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
