PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latex composition having a high pick strength, etc., the suppressing effect of wet stickiness resistance and backing roll soil, and a high productivity.;SOLUTION: This latex composition for coating paper, consisting of a solid phase part containing mainly the latex and an aqueous phase part containing mainly a dispersing agent is provided with that the latex is produced by performing an emulsion polymerization of a monomer composition containing each of the specific amounts of an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer containing a conjugated diene-based monomer and a dibasic ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, vinyl cyanate monomer and other copolymerizable monomers through at least 2 stages of polymerization process, the dispersing agent is at least 1 kind of a polyacrylic acid and its metal salt, pyrophosphoric acid and its metal salt, and hexametaphosphoric acid and its metal salt, and the amount of surface carboxylic acid of the solid phase and the amount of carboxylic acid in water in the aqueous phase are in specific ranges.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
