PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting an ink ejection amount for the maintenance control of a printer.;SOLUTION: The device for detecting the ink discharging amount of a printer, which contains a heater and a nozzle, and prints by applying a specified pulse to the heater to discharge ink through the nozzle, is characterized by including a detector which is connected to the heater and detects the state change to output a state change signal, and an ink discharging amount calculating device for calculating the ink ejection amount corresponding to the state change signal outputted from the detector. By calculating the ink ejection amount reflecting the actual driving state of the printer's nozzle heater, maintenance control in connection with the ink ejection can be more effectively carried out.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
