PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and highly accurately execute carriage motor drive control, namely, carriage movement control corresponding to a load state change in a carriage drive system during recording in a serial-type recording device.;SOLUTION: Immediately after initialization of a carriage position executed at least when the device power is turned on (a step S2), a value of minimum driving force Pmin of a carriage motor, which is minimally required for starting the movement of a carriage by overcoming a load of the carriage drive system, is detected as a duty ratio PWM_Duty value x of a PWM control signal (S3). The movement of the carriage is started by starting up the carriage motor with the minimum driving force Pmin by setting an initial value of the PWM_Duty value as a command value of carriage motor driving force to a detection value x when starting the movement of the carriage for one-line recording (S8).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
