PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a quantity of operations for generating a constraint subspace is large and the processing speed of pattern recognition processing by a constraint mutual subspace method is slow.;SOLUTION: The present invention solves an eigenvalue problem using a sum of projection matrixes for each subspace. A space which is spanned by eigenvectors which are selected starting from those having a smaller eigenvalue is used as a constraint subspace.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
