PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect threads of a pipe and to allow access to the interior of the pipe.;SOLUTION: There is provided a thread protector assembly for protecting not only the threads on the exterior end of a pipe as well as the interior. The assembly comprises an open protector, and a closing cap that defines a completely closed plug engageable from above to cover over the open protector. The open protector has internal threads and a bumper at an upper end with cutouts for applying a torque. The closing cap also has cutouts and internal ribs to be engaged with the cutouts on the open protector and transmit a torque to the open protector.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
