PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hole wall protecting device capable of protecting a hole wall in a reliable manner and easily carried out of a pile hole.;SOLUTION: The hole wall protecting device 1 comprises a round steel pipe 5 having a recessed part 3 at an outer peripheral part and having a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of a pile hole 13; a cylindrical membrane body 7 which is an expansion part installed to close up the recessed part 3 and expandable/contractible by the pressure of an operating fluid such as air or water; and a feeding means 9 for feeding the operating fluid to the membrane body 7. The membrane body 7 is formed by welding or bonding synthetic fiber with anisotropic expansibility to a rubber membrane, wherein the fiber of the synthetic fiber is arranged in a direction to expand and contract more prominently in a radial direction than in the axial direction of the round steel pipe 5.
