PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit and a control method of a brushless DC motor capable of controlling accurate rotation angles using a gearbox. PSOLUTION: A control unit controls the output rotation number of a gearbox having a predetermined reduction gear ratio connected to a brushless DC motor having a rotor with n pieces of poles (n is a natural number) that rotates in response to applied currents with m pieces of phases (m is a natural number) applied on a stator. The unit includes a rotation detector for counting the rotation pulse number in response to the rotation of the rotor from the brushless DC motor, an input of a required rotation amount for receiving an input of the output rotation number and converting it to appropriate required rotation pulse number, a comparator for making comparison between the rotation pulse number and the required rotation pulse number, and a current controller for controlling a current applied on the brushless DC motor according to the result of comparison at the comparing portion. The method and the unit relate to a brshless DC motor control unit and the control method wherein the reduction gear ratio is (rotation number of the brushless DC motor)/(output rotation number of the gearbox).
