PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information required for a sleep test and a sleep apnea test from one acceleration sensor. PSOLUTION: When an x axis direction is defined as the horizontal direction of a patient, a y axis direction is defined as the body height direction of the patient and a z axis direction is defined as the body thickness direction of the patient, by using the respective DC components DCx and DCz of x and z obtained from a three-dimensional acceleration sensor 2, the sleeping posture of the patient is detected from (DCx/(DCxSP2/SP+DCzSP2/SP)SP1/2/SP, DCz/(DCxSP2/SP+DCzSP2/SP)SP1/2/SP). By filtering the respective AC components ACx, ACy and ACz of the x, y and z by a low-pass filter of about 0.3Hz and using amplified output, the respiration rate of the patient is detected from the reciprocal of the peak cycle of (ACxSP2/SP+ACySP2/SP+ACzSP2/SP)SP1/2/SP.
