PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated cutting tip with a hard coating layer achieving excellent anti-chipping performance in high-speed cutting work.;SOLUTION: In this coated cutting tip, the hard coating layer comprising a lower layer of Ti compound and an upper layer of α-type Al2O3 is formed by deposition on the surface of tip base material. A layer of subject material, composed of more than two alternative layers of TiN and TiCN, each having average layer thickness of 0.1-2.5 μm, and achieving total average layer thickness of 0.4-5 μm, is formed by deposition along the whole surface of the upper layer of α-type Al2O3. Polishing fluid including Al2O3 grains is sprayed as spay polishing material by wet blast for polishing the surface of the upper layer of α-type Al2O3, except for the subject material layer at the periphery of a tool mounting hole to achieve a surface roughness Ra of 0.2 μm or less.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
