PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reduction fluid-heating device of a volume reduction apparatus wherein a volume reduction treatment of a material to be reduced in volume with a volume reduction fluid can be conveniently and efficiently performed in an external environment of a low temperature such as in winter, in a cold district or the like. SOLUTION: The volume reduction device for reducing the volume of a material to be reduced with a volume reduction fluid is mounted within a packing case C2 of a vehicle. The device comprises a volume reduction fluid storage tank 14 for storing the volume reduction fluid, and a heat exchanger 32 connected to the tank via a volume reduction circulation pipe 31 and arranged such that cooling water for an engine unit C3 of the vehicle is circulated within the heat exchanger 32 and the volume reduction fluid is heated through heat exchange while making use of the cooling water. The heat exchanger 32 has an electric resistance heater 40, and the volume reduction fluid can be heated by means of the electric resistance heater 40 or the cooling water, or both heat sources. A hot air heater 20 is provided within the packing box C2, and the hot air heater 20 is interposed in a circulation path 33 of the cooling water.
