PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate a lateral acceleration as accurately as possible from right and left wheel speeds even on a split road surface or the like.;SOLUTION: This method which calculates the estimated lateral acceleration of a vehicle from the right and left wheel speeds has two processes. In the first process, the wheel speeds V_L and V_R of the right and left wheels T which are coaxially arranged are detected. In the second process, the estimated lateral acceleration is calculated at least from the wheel speeds V_L and V_R of the right and left wheels. Then, a variation amount of the estimated lateral acceleration which is calculated this time is made smaller to the estimated lateral acceleration which is calculated last time as the deceleration becomes larger from the decelerations of the right and left wheels which are detected or estimated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
