PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high tensile strength steel wire used for a ACSR wire for reinforcing or the like, in which no de-lamination occurs especially under wire stranding process, for a aluminum power transmission line or the like.;SOLUTION: In a cross section of a steel wire with a diameter d (mm), by using formula I, wherein a relation between a hardness and diameter at the zone located 0.1 d from a surface layer is, 550×{1+exp(-d/0.25)}-10×d (Hv), satisfying formula II; 0.9 hardness (Hv) at the surface layer 0.1 d/formula I 1.1, de-lamination does not occur. Preferably, the steel consists of, by weight %, ≥0.06% and ≤1.20% C, ≥0.2% and ≤1.2% Si, ≥0.2% and ≤1.0% Mn, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
