PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-patterning method of an organic EL element, and more in detail, provide a micro-patterning method of an organic EL element by a laser ablation processing method, and further, to provide an organic EL element micro-patterned by the laser ablation method.;SOLUTION: In the method of micro-patterning the organic EL element containing at least one layer of light-emitting layer between opposed pair of electrodes, (1) the light-emitting layer contains metal complex having a ligand with three or more seats as a light-emitting material, and (2) a pattern is formed by the laser ablation processing method.
