PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement quantification or semi-quantification of serum ferritin, immediately prior to blood donation, prevent blood donation from a blood donor possibly having iron-deficiency anemia, and strictly prevent blood of "a person having anemia or a person suspected of having anemia" described in a medical practitioners law from being sampled.;SOLUTION: The iron-deficiency anemia has the possibility of occuring, when a blood of 400 mL is sampled from a person, having a serum ferritin value of less than approximate 20 ng/mL or 30 ng/mL as a healthy value, as shown in Figure. The concentration of the ferritin in the whole blood or plasma previously sampled is measured so as to prevent it immediately prior to the blood donation is implemented, and the blood for the blood donation is sampled, only when this value is a fixed value or higher.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
