PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder lock changed from an old model lock to a new model lock with high safety because unlocking operation of the new model lock cannot be performed with an old model plate-like key.;SOLUTION: A dual-purpose plate-like key is formed with a keycode part for the old model lock on one edge surface, and a keycode part for the new model lock on at least one ventral surface. The tip part of the new model lock, i.e., a part into which the angle tip part of the plate-like key of the old model lock is inserted, has a built-in restraining mechanism for restraining the rotation of an inner cylinder relative to an outer cylinder regardless of the result of actuation of an internal lock mechanism. A restraining member of the restraining mechanism is disposed in a position not to contact any slant face part of the angle tip part of the plate-like key of the old model lock. In the dual-purpose plate-like key, a slant face part coming in sliding contact with a tumbler of the internal lock mechanism of the old model lock, is formed at the tip part of the edge surface.
