SAFETY CIRCUIT FOR PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR ACTUATED BY WEAK FIELD

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety circuit for a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSM) that is actuated by a weak field. PSOLUTION: The safety circuit prevents troubles affecting safety in an inverter circuit for driving the PMSM. The inverter circuit has high- and low-side switches that are driven by a gate driver circuit, while the PMSM is being actuated in a weak field mode and are connected in a bridge. The gate driver circuit has respective stage for driving the high-side and low-side switches. The safety circuit has a main power supply, and a backup power supply for supplying voltage to a gate driver circuit for driving the switch of the bridge in the inverter circuit. When the main power supply is lost, the backup power supply supplies power to the gate driver circuit, thus turning on and off the low- and high-side switches, respectively, by the gate driver circuit.
