PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffusion bonding method for a metal carrier between an outer cylinder and a honeycomb capable of preventing occurrence of defective diffusion bonding between the outer cylinder and a honeycomb structure with nitrogen emitted from the outer cylinder during the heat treatment.;SOLUTION: A heat treatment furnace 3 has an inlet port 31 and an outlet port 32 of inert gas such as argon gas, helium gas, and neon gas. During the heat treatment, inert gas is supplied from the inlet port 31, and discharged from the outlet port 32 to form a flow of the inert gas in the heat treatment furnace 3, and the diffusion bonding is performed so that the inert gas is consistently supplied to a metal carrier M.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
