PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement rotary compressor capable of suppressing the rotation of eccentric bushes at a speed higher than that of a rotating shaft in a specified district due to a variation in pressure in compression chambers according to the rotation of the rotating shaft.;SOLUTION: This rotary compressor comprises upper and lower compression chambers having different internal capacities, the rotating shaft, upper and lower eccentric cams formed on the rotating shaft eccentrically in the same direction, upper and lower eccentric bushes having the maximum eccentric part disposed oppositely to the outer peripheral surfaces of the upper and lower eccentric cams and having a slot formed therebetween, a lock pin selectively switching the upper and lower eccentric bushes to the maximum eccentric rotating position, and upper and lower brake devices installed across the upper and lower eccentric cams and the upper and lower eccentric bushes. The upper and lower brake devices comprise upper and lower brake balls acting by a centrifugal force and a hydraulic pressure to arrest the upper and lower eccentric cams by the upper and lower eccentric bushes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
