PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barium titanate powder small in crystal defects and having fine and uniform particle diameter using barium titanyl citrate, a method of preparing the barium titanate powder in large quantity at low cost and a barium titanate sintered compact produced by sintering the barium titanate powder obtained by the method and comprising crystal particles having fine and homogeneous particle diameter.;SOLUTION: The barium titanate powder having ≤200 nm average particle diameter and ≤5% in the ratio of hexagonal crystal determined by X-ray diffraction is obtained through a 1st step for heating barium titanyl citrate hydrate containing barium and titanium in the air, a 2nd step for heating the product obtained in the 1st step under a reduced pressure and a 3rd step for heating the product obtained in the 2nd step under a higher temperature and lower pressure than that in the 2nd step.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
