PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain image defect detecting method and device capable of quickly and accurately detecting an image defect from an image read out from a radiation image conversion panel in a state including noises. ;SOLUTION: Close image data are prepared by detecting simulative fluorescence at the time of uniformly irradiating a radiation image conversion panel with radiant rays without transmitting the radiant rays through a subject (S1), the high frequency component of a solid image data is removed to form image data from which high frequency components are removed (S2), the coordinates of an image detect are extracted from the high frequency component removed image data as image defect position information (S3), and image detect size information and image defect depth information are extracted from the close image data by referring to the coordinates of the image defect included in the image defect position information (S4).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
