PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a composite oxide particle suitably usable for a coating liquid capable of providing a high refractive index film having colorless transparency and high refraction index, further having excellent hot-water resistance, sweat resistance, weather resistance, light resistance, chemical resistance, scratch resistance, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, flexibility, dyeability, discoloration resistance and adhesion to a substrate, and further to prepare a dispersion sol of the particle, and the coating liquid containing the particle. ;SOLUTION: The composite oxide particle comprising antimony oxide-covered titanium oxide is regulated so that the content of the titanium oxide expressed in terms of TiO2 in the nuclear particle containing the titanium oxide may be ≥10 wt.%, and the amount of the covering layer comprising the antimony oxide expressed in terms of Sb2O5 may be 1-90 wt.% based on the amount of the composite oxide particle comprising the antimony oxide- covered titanium oxide. The dispersion sol of the particle is obtained by dispersing the composite oxide particle comprising the antimony oxide-covered titanium oxide in water and/or an organic solvent.
