PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saturable reactor whose state, whether a conducting state or a state of exerting a magnetism switching function, is determined by the direction of current in it, and also provide a power supply equipment for pulse laser using this reactor. ;SOLUTION: This saturable reactor has a magnetic core 1 which is a saturable one, a primary winding 2 wound around the magnetic core 1, an auxiliary winding 3 also wound around the magnetic core 1, and a source of current for causing current ib to flow in the auxiliary winding 3 for transiting the magnetic core 1 from a non-saturated state to a saturated one by means of the auxiliary winding 3 itself. When current i2 is caused to flow in the primary winding 2, the magnetic core 1 becomes a conducting state. When current it is caused to flow in the primary winding 2, the magnetic core 1 becomes a saturated state from a non-saturated state which is the initial state at the time when a voltage-time product reaches a specified one.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
