PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform efficient upstream and downstream tracking by having side data for indicating coordinates of both ends of the side and a flowing direction and vertex data for indicating coordinates of a vertex and preparing a vertex list for indicating link information to sides connecting each vertex and a side list for indicating the link information to an upstream or a downstream vertex of each side in a network of which vertices are connected by the sides. ;SOLUTION: A network retrieval system 1 has a retrieval instruction or the like inputted to a host computer 3 from a terminal side computer 5, the host computer 3 reads various kinds of data stored in a data base 7 and performs retrieval processing. A CD-ROM 15 stores network data 13 which has a program that has the host computer 3 execute the retrieval processing and geography data 11, manhole data 35 and tube data 45.
