PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an industrial two-layer woven fabric good in planar smoothness without causing recesses on the surface of the woven fabric in crossover parts of connecting yarns with the woven fabric in the upper layer. ;SOLUTION: This industrial two-layer woven fabric comprises a woven fabric in the upper layer composed of warp yarns 1 in the upper layer, weft yarns 12' in the upper layer and auxiliary weft yarns 11' arranged between the weft yarns 12' in the upper layer, a woven fabric in the lower layer composed of warp yarns 2 in the lower layer and weft yarns in the lower layer and connecting yarns 10' connecting the woven fabric in the upper layer to the woven fabric in the lower layer. In the industrial two-layer woven fabric, the warp yarns 1 in the upper layer are passed over the upper side of the adjacent two weft yarns in the lower layer to form crimps having a length of two weft yarns 12' in the upper layer on the side of the surface of the upper layer and the auxiliary weft yarns 11' are woven into the lower side of the crimps of the warp yarns 1 in the upper layer having the length of the two weft yarns 12' in the upper layer and arranged on the other warp yarns 1 in the upper layer adjacent to the warp yarns 1 in the upper layer.
