PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared fluorescent tracer and a fluorescent imaging. SOLUTION: This near-infrared fluorescent tracer comprises a complex which contains at least near-infrared fluorescent-coloring and a substance containing a fat-soluble component and additionally possesses a recognition site for test substance. The infrared fluorescent-coloring matter is an indocyanine-based coloring matter and the substance containing a fat-soluble component is the near-infrared fluorescent tracer consisting of a lipoprotein with a high density. The recognition site for test substance is to be an antibody. The external imaging method is provided by introducing the near-infrared fluorescent tracer into the body system, irradiating the body system with an exciting light and then detecting the near-infrared fluorescence from the tracer.
