PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy and high-yield production of the subject compound which is useful as a synthetic intermediate for other compounds such as thiazole or the like by allowing methyl bromide to react with a reaction product from carbon disulfide and hydrazine in a specific aqueous solvent. ;SOLUTION: Carbon disulfide and hydrazine are allowed to react with one another in an aqueous reaction medium containing water and an aprotic solvent (an aliphatic hydrocarbon or an aromatic hydrocarbon such as toluene) preferably at a molar ratio of 2.4:(10-20):(0.5-1) (hydrazine/water/the aprotic solvent) at a pH of 9-14 and at 10-25°C for 1-2 hours. Then, the reaction mixture is allowed to react with methyl bromide (preferably at a molar ratio of 1.05 to the hydrazinium dithiocarbazinate) at a pH of 9-14 and at 5-25°C for 1-2 hours.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
