Shim and disc brake for preventing squeal of disc brake

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake squeak prevention shim and a disc brake which dranstically improve the squeak prevention effect and heat insulation performance and prevents the generation of interlayer peeling phenomena on the surface layer. ;SOLUTION: At least one face of a metal plate 3 is coated with a compound layer 2 formed by including heat insulation nonmetallic fiber except for asbestos, filler, elastomer, and cork grains. The mixing of the cork grains can increase clearances in the compound layer (surface layer) 2 without any increase in the mixing rate of the fiber and the filler and extremely enhance the damping performance (squeak prevention effect) and heat insulation performance. Providing the compound layer 2 on one face of the metal plate 3 dispenses with a backup shim.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
