Seismic reinforcement method of RC Frames

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To previously prevent shearing breakage without requiring a time for execution by partially cutting the main reinforcement of an RC member to shift the breakage property of the RC member from a shearing breakage preceding type to a bending breakage preceding type.;SOLUTION: The main reinforcement 8 of the RC column member 2 of a shearing breakage preceding type is partially cut in their column leg part and column head part. When a part of the main reinforcement 8 is cut, the bending yield point of each RC column member is lowered, a shearing yield point is relatively raised together therewith, and the breakage property of the RC column member is shifted from a shearing breakage preceding type to a bending breakage preceding type. Thereby, the RC column member 2 absorbs the vibration energy of the whole RC frame while hysteresis damping due to bending deformation is displayed during an earthquake, and the RC column member, in its turn, the earquake resistance of the whole RC frame is improved. Earthquake resistance can be completed in a very short time since this is execution only for cutting the main reinforcement.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
