PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical composition having both desired refractive index and dispersion.;SOLUTION: An optical first component is selected; a second component having the refractive index and the dispersion satisfying the formula: (n1-nm)/(D1-Dm)=(nm-n2)/(Dm-Dn) is selected; and a formulation ratio of the first to second components is determined from the formulae: v1/(v1+v2)=(nm-n2)/(n1-n2) or v1/(v1+v2)=(Dm-D2)/(D1-D2). The v1 and v2 represent a volume ratio of the first and second componts; n1, n2 and nm represent the desired refractive index; and D1, D2 and Dm represent the dispersion values of the first and second components and the desired dispersion value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
