PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical composition having both desired refractive index and dispersion.;SOLUTION: An optical first component is selected; a second component having the refractive index and the dispersion satisfying the formula: (n₁-n_m)/(D₁-D_m)=(n_m-n₂)/(D_m-D_n) is selected; and a formulation ratio of the first to second components is determined from the formulae: v₁/(v₁+v₂)=(n_m-n₂)/(n₁-n₂) or v₁/(v₁+v₂)=(D_m-D₂)/(D₁-D₂). The v₁ and v₂ represent a volume ratio of the first and second componts; n₁, n₂ and n_m represent the desired refractive index; and D₁, D₂ and D_m represent the dispersion values of the first and second components and the desired dispersion value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
