PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inducing the change of the spiral structure of a double-stranded DNA with a polycarbazole derivative and an acid without adding a high concentration acid or an alcohol to the aqueous solution of the double-stranded DNA, and a method for utilizing the same, and the like.;SOLUTION: The method for inducing the change of the spiral structure of the double-stranded DNA is characterized by having a process for mixing the double-stranded DNA, a polycarbazole derivative and a substance for receiving an electron from the polycarbazole derivative. Thereby, the spiral structure of the double-stranded DNA can be changed, for example, from a B type DNA structure to a Z type DNA structure.
