PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain at low cost the subject member by molding, to a complicated shape as necessary, fine crystalline powder, crystal-depositable glass powder and/or partially crystallized glass powder followed by burning the powder thus molded to form a sintered compact containing inside crystals anisotropic in thermal expansion coefficient and having negative thermal expansion coefficient. ;SOLUTION: This member for temperature compensation is obtained by molding, to such a complicated shape as necessary, as to have groove(s), through hole(s) or the like, at least one kind selected from crystalline powder ≤50 μm in mean particle size, crystal-depositable glass powder and partially crystallized glass powder through press molding, cast molding, extrusion molding or the like followed by burning the powder thus molded in air at about 1,300°C; wherein the crystalline powder is pref. of silicate, phosphate, titanate, La oxide, Nd oxide, Ta oxide or the like, esp. β-eucryptite crystal powder afforded by solid phase method. Thus, the objective member for temperature compensation consisting of high-strength sintered compact and having a thermal expansion coefficient of -10 to -120×10-7/°C at -40 to 100°C is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
