PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reduced form nicotinamide coenzyme measuring reagent, by which dry measurement can be carried out without any influence of a coexistent substance fluorescing in an ultraviolet region. ;SOLUTION: This reagent contains specific styryl pigment. When the styryl pigment in the reagent and a reduced form nicotinamide coenzyme contained in a liquid sample are allowed to react with each other under the existence of electron carriers, the styryl pigment is faded, and a change in absorbance in a visible region is measured. In this way, a reduced form nicotinamide coenzyme can be measured. For a concrete example of the styryl pigment, 2-[1- cyano-4-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-1, 3-butadienyl]-3-ethylbenzothiazolium iodide is available, while diaphorase can be used as the electron carrier.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
