PURPOSE: To obtain a nonaqueous oily ointment base material by compounding a cyclic silicone oil, a higher fatty acid salt, a wax, a higher alcohol and a nonionic surfactant and to obtain an ointment for skin external use by compounding the base material with a pharmacologically active substance. ;CONSTITUTION: This nonaqueous oily ointment base material is obtained by compounding 30-85wt.% of a cyclic silicon oil (e.g. octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane), 0.1-3.5wt.% of a higher fatty acid salt (e.g. aluminum monostearate), 1-12wt.% of a wax (e.g. microcrystalline wax), 1-35wt.% of a higher alcohol (e.g. myristyl alcohol) and 0.1-10wt.% of a nonionic surfactant [e.g. polyoxyethylene-(2)-oleyl ether]. The material is optionally compounded further with an oily component. Furthermore, an ointment for skin external use is obtained by compounding the base material with 0.001-20wt.% of an antiinflammatory agent, an antimycotic agent, a skin protecting agent or bactericidal disinfection agent, an antipruritic agent, etc. The obtained ointment is free from stickiness, having excellent spreadability and excellent feeling in use and excellent in percutaneous absorption of a pharmacologically active agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
