PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a low carbon martensitic stainless hot rolled steel strip in which a tempering stage is simplified as much as possible, the strength of a hot rolled steel strip to be worked into a welded tube or the like is suitably reduced to facilitate its forming and excellent in corrosion resistance and weldability and to provide a method for producing it. ;SOLUTION: A stainless steel slab contg., by weight, 12.0 to 13.5% Cr, C+N≤0.030% and 1.5 to 2.5% Ni is heated to the temp. range of 1,100 to 1,200°C, next, the slab is subjected to hot rolling to make the finishing temp. in the hot rolling to ≥900°C by a hot rolling mill and is coiled to be formed into a hot rolled steel strip, and the hot rolled steel strip is temporarily cooled to ≤150°C and is then subjected to heat treatment in the temp. range of 550 to 670°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
