"AMEBASE CONTROL VACCINE COMPOSITIONS BASED ON ENTAMOEBA HISTOLYTICA 112 kDA SURFACE PROTEIN". The present invention relates to the field of immunology, specifically with vaccine compositions for the control of Entamoeba histolytica infections. The compositions according to the present invention have as active principle a 112 kDa amoebic surface protein which is encoded by two genes, one encoding a cysteine protease activity polypeptide and the other one having adhesin activity. The present invention also includes formulations which include the genes encoding said protein which are administered as a DNA vaccine, as well as formulations with the purified proteins or fragments thereof, giving a protective synergistic effect with the combination. These formulations may be administered for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes to combat amoebic infection produced by the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica.
