The present invention relates to a derivative of an antigen associated with tumors of the MAGE family being selected from the MAGE antigens group containing derivatized thiol radicals. The antigen can be of the form of a fusion protein. The invention also relates to a nucleic acid encoding such antigen, a vector containing the nucleic acid or a host cell being transformed by such nucleic acid or by such a vector, further a corresponding vaccine. There is also described the use of the antigen or the nucleic acid for the preparation of a vaccine, further purification process of the antigen and process for preparing the vaccine.
