The invention relates to a method for encrypting and transmitting data between a sender and a receiver using a network, thus providing secure data transmission. The method includes receiving by the server a recipient identifier (S4A, S4B) from the sender; creating an encryption key intended for this particular transmission (S7B); data encryption using this encryption key (S8B); server access to the individual information of the recipient according to the received identifier of the recipient, and encryption, using the individual information of the recipient, the specified encryption key (S11B); transmitting encrypted data and an encrypted encryption key over the network for reception by the receiver (S11B); receiving by the server from the recipient an encrypted encryption key; server access to the individual information of the recipient to decrypt the encrypted encryption key; and decrypting the encrypted data using the decrypted encryption key.
