The invention relates to metal electrochemical protection against corrosion, method for measuring the potential of an uncharged metal surface =0 and to a protection method based on the setting up a protection potential equal to =0. The inventive device (fig. 5) for carrying out said method comprises a unit for measuring =0 in which a voltage is supplied from an alternating-current source (13) to an auxiliary electrode (3) and to an alternating current bridge which forms a direct and back voltage pulses supplied to a studied electrode (4). The =0 value is measured with the aid of an electronic oscillograph (9). The protection is carried out by supplying a protection voltage from an alternating current source (17). The protection potential value =0 is set up with the aid of a resistor (16) or a current controller (18). The high accuracy measurement and the use of =0 increase the efficiency of metal protection.
