: A new apparatus utilizing a new method to obtain electronic commitment from a prior commitment with the added features like irrefutability of the commitment so that once electronic commitment is given the corresponding prior commitment can not be changed and intractability of the electronic commitment so that the prior commitment can not be found from the electronic commitment. The electronic commitment generator and verifier have been designed and its working is explained. Various methods and its variations are discussed and its applications are brought out. Digital signature of the electronic commitment and the prior commitment can be provided so that in case of any arbitration it can be verified whether prior commitment maps to electronic commitment.
