A method for reducing clustering and clod formation, which comprises providing reducible iron-containing agglomerated material, sintering the agglomerated material; desulphurisation the agglomerated material and forming an outer layer of cluster reducing material on the agglomerated material, the forming of the outer layer being performed by applying a liquid suspension of particulate material to the agglomerated material, characterized in that the applying taking place by tumbling in a drum, the drum being so designed that the agglomerated material can pass freely through the drum.
