A sensor apparatus (2) for a power bus (4) including a current and a temperatureincludes a housing (6) and one or more sensors (44, 114, 118). Each of the sensorsis adapted to sense one of the current or the temperature of the power bus. A radiotransceiver circuit (50, 110) is adapted to transmit a first wireless signal(130) and to receive a second wireless signal. A processor (88, 122) is adaptedto input the sensed current and the sensed temperature from the sensors and tooutput corresponding signals to the radio transceiver circuit in order to transmitthe first wireless signal. A power supply (24) is adapted to employ voltage producedby magnetically coupling the power bus to one or more coils, in order to power thesensors, the radio transceiver circuit and the processor from flux arising fromcurrent flowing in the power bus.
