The kit comprises blocks (1) which are joined together by one or more coupling pieces (3). Each block comprises a panel (4) with a hole (5) extending through it which has a round shape and four lips (6) extending inwards, each lip having two sides (25, 26) extending in the radial direction. The lips are located angular equidistant to each other and extend through an angle of ca. 22.5 deg.. The coupling piece comprises a shaft (8) which can be inserted into the hole between the lips, a stop located midway along the shaft for limiting how far the shaft can be inserted into the hole, four locking protrusions (9-12, 14, 15) in each shaft end zone (17) which each extend through an angle of ca. 22.5 deg. and are arranged at relative angular positions of ca. 0, 90-22.5, 180 and 270-22.5 deg. and four angular equidistant stops provided on each locking protrusion for cooperating with the sides of the lips in order to limit rotation of the piece. This piece can be inserted into the block in one of four equidistant angular positions until the stop on the shaft comes into contact with the panel and then rotated in either direction through ca. 22.5 deg. until the stops on the locking protrusions come into contact with the sides of the lips, at which point the protrusions grip behind the panel and fix the piece in its axial position relative to the panel. Means are provided! for releasably fixing the piece in each angular position.
