The tank (1) contains at least one partition dividing it into a channel extending from the inlet (3) for the water to be heated to the outlet (4) for the hot water. The length of the channel is greater than the distance between the inlet and outlet. The partition has a flat spiral shape comprising two or more spiral parts which are joined together with their main planes parallel to each other. The partitions are formed by spirally wound tubes (2) of pressure-resistant material.
