The rear edge (7) of the base (3) of the device has a first pair of frame uprights (14a, 14b) with at least one horizontal strut (15a) extending in between. The base also includes a second pair of frame uprights (16a, 16b) located further towards the front and also having at least one horizontal strut (15a) extending between them. The strut between the first uprights is located in a higher level than the strut between the second uprights so that when a scaffolding section is placed on top of these struts it slides in a downward direction towards the front of the base. The base is mounted on the chassis (1) of a transport vehicle such as a trailer.
