Monitoring train on track section with restricted speed limit, involves calculating geometric position of track using measured acceleration component and dynamic train model
The acceleration component at the head of the train (1) is measured at right angles to the travelling direction and the geometric position of the track is calculated from this component, using a dynamic train model. An independent claim is also included for a train which can be monitored using this method, provided with a measuring device (3) for the acceleration component and a processor (7) for calculating the geometric position of the track and the maximum safe speed for the train and/or safe starting force for the locomotive (9) on this track section (A). The maximum safe speed and safe starting force are calculated for the entire length of the train.
