The system includes a fluid path which extends through a pad filled with product to be extracted and a valve arranged in the fluid path. The system is designed for producing beverage with a froth layer and beverage without froth layer during froth and froth-free conditions respectively. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) holder assembly; (2) restriction element; (3) pad; (4) use of system; and (5) method for preparing beverage.
